Just wondering, how many of you hear read manga? What are some of your favorite series? What are you reading now? Do you read "scanlations" (fan translated/photoshopped manga)?
Right now, I'm reading sundry volumes of Lone Wolf and Cub. Great stuff, especially if you're into Samurai and period drama stuff.

Haven't read that much, but here is what I've touched:
Scanlations:
Love Hina (long, long time ago): Far better & more fanservice than the anime.
Saint Seiya Hades Saga (hell of a good read)
Berserk (up to volume 23, but I guess it is licensed now): Great story, lot & lots of battles. gore, intrigue, suspense, etc.. Highly recommended.
Tsubasa: This is from CLAMP, and its an alternative story that involves lots of CLAMP's characters, and the main protagonists are Shaoran & Sakura (from CCS)
Graphic Novels:
El Hazard: I'm an El Hazard fan, I have to have it all! ;D Hell, I even bought the role playing book & I don't even have a clue how to use it!
Bakuretsu Hunters:I'm getting my first two volumes this week.

How is the Chobits manga, BTW? I hear it's rather ecchi. ^^;
Just finished up Lone Wolf & Cub (well, what volumes I could lay my hands on). Next up, What's Michael! ^.^;

I just got really into manga a little over a year ago, thanks mostly to Tokyopop and their $9.99 manga. Before everything was really expensive, now its a lot more affordable.
I'm currently collecting: Love Hina (13, read up to 12) Chobits (7, read up to 6) Kindaichi Case Files (2, read up to 1) Flame of Recca (1) Inuyasha (14, read up to 15) Alien Nine (1, need to get 2)
My current favorites are: Love Hina - Anime was good but the manga is better in every way. Just amazing how good the story is.
Marmalade Boy - Great shoujo story, great characters, lots of fun to read.
MARS - Nother shoujo manga and another manga with a great romantic tale.
Inuyasha - Best of the best when it comes to non-romance manga.
Kindaichi - Only read 1 so far but if the rest is as good as 1 this one may be one of my all-time favorites.
Manga I want:
Fruits Basket - Anime left a few unanswered questions.
Oh and for manga fans, check out Shounen Jump, its the best anime/manga magazine for your $$$. $5 and you get a 300+ page magazine loaded with great comics (and DBZ and Yugi-Oh).

Pucci did yo read Chobits 7 yet? If not stop now, same goes to anyone else who hasn't read up through Chobits 7.
MASSIVE CHOBITS MANGA SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Holy Shit was that a suprise to finally see who Hibya's husband was. How the hell could they leave that out of the anime, that was one of the coolest and probably the most suprising twist ever. Who would of thought the scientist in Angelic Layer was Chi's father/Hibya's wife. Was so cool how they tied the two shows together.
[End Spoilers]

I just read Uzumaki - Spiral Into Horror vol.1 last night. I had to read it all the way through, because I knew if I put it down I wouldn't finish it later. ; Not much of a horror person, but this was OK. More like what the Japanese call "body horror." So people were doing sick shit with their own bodies, rather than running around slashing each other. It's about an unforseeable force that causes these terrible things, rather than a person or other physical manifesatation. Think H.P. Lovecraft, without the demons. ^_^;;;

Carrot: Before, my bottom half was a horse right? (he just had transformed into a half-man, half-horse) I can't believe I let that go to waste.....You should have seen the size of my......OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH *KABLOOOOIE* Tira: I'm not helping you ever again. ;D

My Gwad!
Berserk is fucked up!
I can't believe this has been licensed. I mean, come on, this manga has so many fucked up moments, you really should have a strong stomach. All the characters in Berserk need at least two lifetime of teraphy to turn normal.
This is some weird shit going on in here, but the story an motivations are good. Wow! What a read!

Weapon, Carrot is damn funny huh? I remember from the OVA when he's trying to chat up that zombie chiXx0r and then he just sings in engrish "DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" and get's blasted. It's so random. Now that I think about it, he does use alot of engrish phrases doesn't he?
I just read a volume of Mars. I didn't particularly care for it. My apologies to the hardcore Shoujo fans, but aside from CLAMP and Utena (and Escaflowne if you consider that shoujo) I just don't like shoujo. It's just too much "make up-break up-oh look here comes an old flame from the past to fuck things up." Hana Yori Dango, Marmalade Boy, Mars... it's all the same. But that's just me I suppose. It's not that it's real life/romantic comedy, I love the shounen type stuff. Maison Ikkoku, Kimagure Orange Road, Love Hina, Chobits, etc....

See I am the opposite, I like shoujo romances more. The one guy/multiple girls stories just get really repetive and sometimes annoying. Few anime can pull it off, and IMO only the Love Hina manga pulls it off exceptionally. Not saying I don't enjoy shounen shows, just that very few are anything spectacular.

The only manga I'm reading is Ragnarok, and that's really a manwha. I have four volumes of Chobits, but after watching the anime, I guess I lost interest in reading it. Besides, the only aspect I enjoyed was the Takako and Shinbu relationship. That, and the antics of Sumomo. Other than that, nothing about Chobits struck me as impressive.
